To get a COVID-19 test for travel or work:
- You must have no symptoms of COVID-19
- You must not have received a positive test in the past
How long does it take to get results?
Due to overwhelming demand, labs cannot guarantee a turnaround time for test results We are not responsible for delays in test results. There is no ‘rush’ option unfortunately. The lab will process tests as they receive them.
Which test is used for COVID-19?
We use a nasal swab for each nostril. This is the highly accurate PCR NAAT test which is the gold standard for COVID-19 testing.
Is the bi-nasal COVID-19 test painful?
No. The bi-nasal method is painless and recommended for screening purposes. We swab the front of the nose, not deep at the back, which can be painful.
Who will administer the test?
Your test will be taken by a Medical Doctor, a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse under the supervision of a Medical Doctor.
Which lab is being used?
We use Lifelabs, the only accredited lab in BC to process the test. They are also accredited in Ontario. This is the same lab used by the provincial health authority. Please note Lifelabs do not offer a testing service directly for screening.
Is the test Health Canada approved?
Yes, this test has been approved by Health Canada.
Is this test covered by my Provincial MSP?
No. Screening tests for work or travel are not covered by public health services. Some extended medical plans may cover the cost if you submit the receipt.
How much does the test cost?
· COVID-19 PCR Nasal $300 plus 5% GST
· Signed requisition for Antibody Test $50 plus 5% GST
How will I get my results?
If you have a negative test we will email you a certificate with your details and the date and time of your negative test result.
If you have a positive test, we will call you and discuss what happens next.
Where is the clinic located?
We are located on level 1, below domestic arrivals.
If you see 7/11 – there is a pharmacy opposite. Walk past the pharmacy and you will see YVR medical clinic.
Is there parking for the clinic?
We provide parking at the reduced rate of $3.00 for 90 minutes. Park in Domestic arrivals, take a green token and we will give you a ticket to scan when you exit.
